Skype announces plan Trends Qik

Companies combined provide deeper video capabilities across devices

LUXEMBOURG, January 6, 2011 – Skype today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Qik, a software provider of mobile video and services that enable people to capture, instantly share and preserve the great moments in video from anywhere. Qik has 60 employees and has its headquarters in Redwood City, California and has an Office in Moscow, Russia. Transaction expected to close in January 2011. Terms of the acquisition, will not be disclosed.

Qik was founded in 2006 and offers flexible and innovative solutions to capture and share video with anyone across mobile devices, web and desktop platforms. Videos can be shared in real-time or stored for moments can be consulted at the latest, allowing video messaging, sharing and archiving.
