Orbotix Sphero controlled toy iOS ball practice

It is not yet close to allergic rhinitis.Drone, but Orbotix Sphero should find a way to eat your precious productivity when it hits shelves sometime "later this year." This sphere of light lit 4.3 inch connects to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch via Bluetooth and allows to control remotely or change its color... and it is about it. There are two different input modes - that uses the built in accelerometers and joystick alternative that uses a virtual circular joystick wholesale on-screen. The few minutes that we spent with the sphere were slightly entertaining, but the lack of cameras or other sensors makes kind of useless. Yet, we could see young children goes wild for this and denying you restore your iPhone to make a call. Orbotix detailed a game dubbed "quiztug" in which several players to connect to the same Sphero and trying to "score", while the other player completes a mathematical problem or another type of question - an interesting idea with certainty. Operation has certainly had a bit of getting used, and we still have it fairly low pat after about five or ten minutes, but we're certainly with certain practices we could be shredding half pipe as our demo dude was. The existence of an open API makes us optimistic for the future of this little guy, especially given the sub-$ 100 pricetag. Discover our gallery of practice or in the video posted after the break and tell us what you would do with this thing in the comments.
