Hybrid cars have officially jumped the shark, bored drivers from coast to coast, as confidently hypermile wherever you go. Meanwhile, those with large trucks have been relatively out of luck, have to stop often for gas - and scrape the remains of hybrids little out of his fender wells. That is changing soon, with Via Motors taking their renowned Chevy trucks (dig that flight V on the grill) and offer them to fleets in 2011, with sales people from two years later (available online now for $1,000 down). Large companies such as, apparently, E & PG may make these E-REV trucks roll calls that provide 20 or 40 miles of electric range, augmented by a built-in generator. Yes, it is a similar theory series hybrid design for the Volt batteries which, in turn, send juice for 268hp engine load internal combustion engine. Interestingly, however, that generator can feed other things as well, providing 120 or 240 v tools, lamps, perhaps even hot, if you are a super cool contractor tubs. No cost of any word in scheduled vehicle or efficiency, but us we are not expecting miracles on every front.
