Apple has already put some controls for basic gesture to use in its sixth generation iPod nano, but recently published patent application suggests that there may be some more grandiose designs for a non-look of sorts interface. As you can see above, Apple using a nano in his illustrations for the patent, but the expense claims suggest that gesture would not necessarily require a screen at all — perhaps for something similar to this interface side rear which also mounted in an Apple patent application? Regards the actions themselves, they would apparently mean things like a single tap to pause or play, a double tap to jump forward, a tap triple jump in the back and a circular motion to control volume. Of course, that the aforementioned patent application was published in 2007 and we have yet to see any result, so you can't hold your breath the same either.
